“The Bible doesn’t give us a god at the top of a moral ladder saying, “If you try hard to summon up your strength and live right, you can make it up!” Instead, the Bible repeatedly shows us weak people who don’t deserve God’s grace, don’t seek it, and don’t appreciate it even after they have received it.”—Tim Keller “Counterfeit Gods.” - https://itun.es/us/WTyvv.l (via djsmusings)
“We know that Christ abides in us because we know the Spirit He has given us is manifest in us. People say to me, “How do you know when you’re a believer?” It’s not your perfection, it’s your direction; it’s what you love and what you hate and what you long for. We’re all in Romans 7, aren’t we? We don’t do what we ought do, we don’t do what we want to do, we do what we don’t want to do and ought not to do, and we hate that about us — and that’s the evidence of the Holy Spirit in us.”—Testing the Spirits, John MacArthur (via iisjunior)
It’s time for us to do something.
If not now then when?”-Matthew West from the song DO SOMETHING.
So many times I find myself putting of the things I could do today and saying I will do them “later”. Then, that “later” ends up never coming. Who am I to say that I can do ANYTHING tomorrow? Only God knows the future. I should be focusing more on making the best of today and leave tomorrow to him. “What can I do to glorify God today?” -I should be asking myself this question every morning. Yet I choose to waste my time and be idle. The time we have here is so precious. We only get one shot at each day; after today passes there is now way for me to rewind and make more of it. So why don’t I treasure it?
"Come now, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit’ - yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, ‘If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.’ As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin."- James 4:13-17
